Inspireras av Rosa

Who are you? Work title?
Architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture Owner and founder of Wild Studio.

Describe the most fun/interesting thing about your job?
I love most of what I do because it’s my own little company and I can shape it the way I want it. But working with my manufacturer is for instance extremely inspiring. We never know how a certain blend will come out and that is a bit magical. I always have butterflies in my stomach when a new test arrives.

What is the most challenging thing with your work?
As I am working mostly on my own I would say choosing between the tasks and prioritizing is still a challenge. And not stressing about the things I don’t have time to do. Building a sustainable workplace in every aspect is at the core of Wild Studio but sometimes I can be a terrible boss to myself.

What drives and motivates you?
My approach to sustainability which is to see it as both a concept and an inspiration as well as solution finding. I love finding new ways to do things and to experiment and be surprised. On a daily basis I must say I also get motivated from the positive feedback I get. People I don’t know, find time to write and tell me that they love my work. I was very surprised by this.

"Finding your way and what it is you should focus on takes time and work and it might not be what you expect. And you won’t know until you start working with it."

Where do you get your inspiration from?
I’m exploring some kind of feminine or hippie approach to sustainability so my inspiration is a mix of tarot-cards, moon calendars and plants -but of course also the materials at hand. Exploring and experimenting. I want to tell stories with the waste we create and let the recycling becoming more than just a practical thing.

Your stools are amazing! And 100% recycled PE plastic, we understand they are made from Aloe Vera lotion packaging? Tell us about this idea and how you came up with this?
Thank you! Only the April and Milk versions are from Aloe Vera packaging. I have experimented with a lot of different types of plastic waste, like fishnets, household waste and and industrial waste. The blend you refer to was kind of a coincidence, but it’s my favourite version because this was a pile of waste that couldn’t be sold because of the pieces of paper labels. But for me it was clear that this “mistake” could be turned into an advantage -small pieces of secret messages the furniture gives it a layer of mystique. This is what I aim for. The poetic and irrisitable sustainability.

Who is your role model? Role models? Why?
Louise Bourgeois for not giving a shit and never explaining. I think of her when I need that feeling.

What is your advice for someone stuck in a work role they are not happy with?
Don’t be afraid. Finding your way and what it is you should focus on takes time and work and it might not be what you expect. And you won’t know until you start working with it. I don’t remember who said it, but “inspiration has to find you working.”

What is sustainability to you? And how important is that when buying/choosing products?
For me sustainability is very linked to inspiration. It’s about inventing new ways to do things and about caring in your everyday life. I think that the green transition is -besides being absolutely necessary -it’s healthy for us. We have been regarding the material world with way too little care for a long time. But I can be a bit afraid that we loose the big picture sometimes. We should’t shame each other and stay aware that our options are not always the same.

What's your biggest achievement/most proud of your career?
Haha I’m terribly proud of The Moon Collection. There are new designs on the way but they will always have a special place for me. Before I did this I worked as an urban designer and there are definitely also things I’m proud of there, competitions I won etc, It’s just a bit difficult to compare. This is just so much me.

How would you style style Inga?
I think they are extremely versatile and precise in the design at the same time. They are so beautiful. I would wear them with everything but if I had to choose, maybe flared pants or a long dress.

What are you listening to right now?
Top 3 songs My top songs are confused because of my son. He is ten and has a weird taste. But Ghetto Kumbé (I’m warming up to a concert) Solange, Conan Mockassin and a lot of War Paint.
